The Almost-ending Story (I Hope!)

Here is Emma in her favorite dress. Many of you know we started trying to get her to use the toilet back in February. We have tried many different incentives to get her to use the toilet, all to no avail. She has been quite stubborn about the whole process.
Last week I had given up... we were going to have two in diapers once again, and there was no getting around it. However, my mother (brillant, experienced woman she is) suggested we get Emma pull-ups, and tell her when she wanted to use the toilet she could take the pull-ups off and use the toilet. I also added the extra incentive that she couldn't wear this dress anymore, her favorite in the whole world, until she started using the toilet.
The other day Emma suprised me by announcing she had to use the toilet, taking off her pull-up (all by herself) and climbing on the toilet (again, all by herself, and this is a regular toilet, not a little potty.) Unfortunately she had already tinkled in her pull-up, but at least we were making progress.
This has been going on for several days, and today I thought would be no different. But when she climbed on the toilet today, she actually used it! I was jumping for joy. And of course, she got to put her pink dress on. That made her quite happy. She knows she needs to stay dry if she wants to be able to keep wearing the dress. We will see how it goes, but it looks as though the end of Emma's diaper days may be in sight!

I'm so jealous. Maxwell's Superman toy is still sitting on the fridge, waiting for the day Maxwell uses the potty chair, and Maxwell is no hurry! At least once a day he'll say, "There's my Superman." I'll ask when he can get Superman down and Maxwell will tell me, but he always says he'll "do it tommorrow." Congratulations on Emma's success.

Whooo hoooo! Maybe you'll have a full week with NO diaper changes before Sophie makes her appearance.

It's so nice to hear other mom's stories about potty training! I'm there myself! It's definitely not as easy as I imagined! Good luck to you and your beautiful little girl!
