On May 6th, I got a notice from the school that Andrew's lunch money balance was $1.76 in the hole. I sent him with a check for $25 add to his account, thinking it would last until the end of the school year.
You can imagine my surprise when Andrew brought home a notice again yesterday, saying that his balance was $0.30 overdrawn! Today I called the cafeteria secretary to find out if there was some mix-up, and she looked into the account for me.
Come to find out that Andrew has been getting his first entree, and then going back for seconds almost every day! He is quite a good eater at home these days too! He also told us he likes to get seconds of drinks, but unfortunately he isn't allowed to get seconds on desserts.
Just one more reason I am grateful to live in this beautiful land where we enjoy so much abundance. I am grateful that a child who is hungry can fill himself. What a blessing!

how nice. i wish my kids would eat . . . andrew used to be pretty choosy, though, right? is he growing out of that, too? so there's hope? :)
yes, let's put some meat on those bones.
Man... I wish we could go back for seconds at my school! Mmmm...lunch.
He is growing that's for sure. Oh how I remember my 3 boys and trying to keep groceries in the house! They were always thin but good eaters. We are truly blessed to live in this beautiful land.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing as I was driving my car to work this morning. I thought, wow, I would be taking the bus, having to make multiple transfers (my jeep died in case you hadn't heard). But mom and dad were so nice to buy me judy and loi's car (thanx again for selling it) and so I felt very lucky that there I was, driving a car. Andrew gets to eat, and I get to drive a car. Great country!
I can't believe in a few months I'll have an eight year old nephew. And he's *your* son. :)
See you in a few weeks!
yikes - i didn't know eating at school could cost so much. i'm glad he's eating. i love when our kids will eat - anything.
This is a great story :) Andrew is growing up so fast.
Now you understand why I used to make biscuits and muffins all the time with dinner! Something to fill up you kids.
Oh my goodness he looks so thin! Reminds me of John when he was younger.
Oh... I hope my kids will 'grow into' eating again! For now Ali just likes to lick the ranch off of the cucumbers! And she was my good eater!
We love Mt. TikiSoki!
