---don't tag me. I am really bad about following through on these. All it does is give me a guilty conscience.

To ease my guilty conscience, here is the final tag... 7 things about me. I will try to make them interesting, but I am not that exciting of a person... so here ya go:

I am a messy person, but I can't get anything done when my environment is a mess. I know that is a real problem. That is why I am in the process of reorganizing my sewing room, which leads me to...

I love to quilt. You already knew that of course. What you might not know is that my sewing room is in the basement, and has no windows, therefore no natural light. I bought some of those light bulbs that are supposed to be the same as natural light, and once I am done reorganizing, I would like to paint my sewing room a pretty, soft white. Maybe then it won't feel like such a cave. Still and all, I am grateful I have a room to call my own!

I am totally scared of heights. When I was younger (and my parents only had 5 kids), my dad used to take the 4 oldest on outings to places like the zoo, and to see the Spruce Goose/Queen Mary in Long Beach. I remember my brother John standing on the edge of the wall of rocks with his toes hanging out over the ocean, and I was screaming at him to stand back because I just knew he was going to fall into the water and drown. We were standing probably 6 feet above the surface of the water.I was terrified for him.
After I was married, Elliott and I lived in NYC for a summer while he interned with Morgan Stanley. My SIL Julianne and my BIL Lincoln (who were 13 and 12 at the time?) came to visit us, and I took them to see the sights, including the Statue of Liberty. We started up the stairs, and the higher we got, the more terrified I got. Finally, I had to exit and take the elevator down, and i waited for them at the bottom. Yep, I am a big ol' scaredy cat!

My favorite outfit is jeans with a white t-shirt and flip flops. This has been my favorite outfit since high school. I also enjoy a cute skirt with a white t-shirt, but that does require shaving one's legs... so it is more of a summertime thing... not that I don't shave my legs in the winter... just not as often! (hmmm, was that too much info?)

I love to read. My favorite books are generally historical novels, although I love to read history books that read like novels too. My favorite author is Jane Austen, although in the last year I discovered Anya Seton and Phillipa Gregory, and I thoroughly enjoy their novels too.

I love to play board games and card games. My favorites are Scrabble, Settlers of Catan, and Rook. You notice I didn't say I was good at these games. I just enjoy playing them. I love playing games and doing puzzles with my children too. I prefer that to almost any other kid activity I can think of. The hardest part is letting them win occasionally, because I am kind of competitive, I think it comes from being in a family of 9 kids!

I haven't gotten a decent night's sleep in years. I can't blame it entirely on my children... I have this bad habit of waking up at 4:30 in the morning, and I can't fall back asleep until about 6am, and then we have to get up a half an hour later... Needless to say I am a zombie, quite forgetful, way too grumpy, and lack the energy I need. Occasionally I will get up at 4:30 and get things done for a little while, before crawling back into bed. I figure that if I am going to be awake, I might as be using the time for good, but more often than not, I lay tossing and turning for a couple of hours. Thank goodness I have a cozy bed and warm linens to snuggle in...

Thanks for doing your 7 things Ginger -- it was fun to read.
I have a basement sewing room too with no windows -- I don't even have drywall on the walls. Ok by me though -- it's MY private room (well, except for Mr. Furnace LOL.)
I cringed reading about your fear of heights -- you poor thing!
If you like historical fiction you might like two of my favs -- Year of Wonders and The Dress Lodger.
And...I don't do tags either. Too hard to choose people!

We could share wardrobes! Except for now I'm converted to tennis shoes. Flip flops used to be my norm, but not so much anymore.
