The Modern Quilt Guild is running a fabric challenge in conjunction with Riley Blake Fabrics. I was lucky enough to sign up for the free fat eighths of fabric from the RB Cottage Garden line. The challenge rules state that you can only use coordinating solids and basics from Riley Blake, and that you should try a new-to-you technique in your project.
I have long admired the technique and style of Gwen Marston. Her Liberated Quilts are so whimsical and fun. I decided that this was finally the time for me to try out liberated quiltmaking, so I chose to work off of the basket method shown in Liberated Quiltmaking II. This was also my first time working with curved bias, as on the handles. It was a very fun project! I will definitely be incorporating more liberated piecing techniques into my quilts.
Hopefully later this week I will be able to start the quilting, again using a new-to-me technique I learned in a recent class with Leah Day.
