Well, that's disappointing!
I don't think you'd be able to add any juice to this recipe... you might want to re-try the lemon syrup, though. Poke deep holes with a wooden kebab into the cake; pour the syrup carefully into those, making sure it soaks into the cake.
And since you've so many lemons, I'd add more zest in the batter.
Wish I were there to sample the cake!
